Why we built it
Choosing a color can become surprisingly complicated. We wanted to make the first step easy: generate a result, see it at a useful scale, and copy the format your project needs. There is no account to create, software to install, or long setup process between you and a new idea.
The generator is designed for quick creative exploration. Use complete randomness when you want a surprise, select a style when you have a direction, or define a custom style when a project needs tighter boundaries.
What the tool does
Generate
Find a starting point
Create solid colors, gradients, and motion palettes from broad categories or your own hue, saturation, and lightness preferences.
Translate
Use the right format
See matching HEX, RGB, and HSL values together, so the value you copy always represents the color on screen.
Evaluate
Check the result
Compare black and white foreground text, view the contrast ratio, and expand a color across the screen without distracting controls.
Keep
Return to good ideas
Save favorites and custom styles in your browser, revisit recent results, or share a direct link to a solid color.
Built with privacy in mind
The core generator runs in your browser. Favorites, recent colors, custom styles, and display preferences are stored locally on your device rather than in an account. We do not use those saved choices to build a profile about you.
For the details, read our Privacy Policy.
Made for every kind of creator
Basic Random Color Generator can be useful for designers, developers, illustrators, students, educators, marketers, interior design enthusiasts, and anyone who wants a little color inspiration. The tool is free to use, and we aim to keep it fast, clear, and approachable.
